Open Source Perfect for R&D

Many in the world of pharmaceutical R&D believe the future may lie in Open Source.  The Open Source Drug Discovery (OSDD) Consortium believe more drug discoveries and cures could be found quicker by allowing key date to be shared with more researchers and scientists across the world. The OSDD was originally set up in 2008 and has more than 3000 people across 74 countries participating in the scheme. Director, Samir Brahmachari,  explained that by having more people interact together drug development discoveries would be shared quickly and through many new channels.

Many of the big names in the industry believe that Open Source will be the way forward in the scientific world especially within medical research. Working together to build a huge database of lab statistics and non traditional findings may prove to hold significant information for future discoveries.
